In negotiations for new food safety bans within the European Union, Bulgaria will defend the request of farmers and food traders to continue using the gaseous pesticide phosphine for gassing grain warehouses to prevent mold, as the active substance does not pose harm to human health. This was reported to farmers by the National Association of Grain Producers during the annual agro-seminar held at the "Albena" resort. In response to a question from the chair of the Dobrudja Grain Producers' Union, Radostina Zhekova, to the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food, Yanislav Yanchev, about whether the country will defend the sector's request to preserve the action of the active substance, he answered positively.
