In Brazil, the average price of cassava is the lowest since October 2022

Cassava root prices continue to fall and recorded the lowest average for October 2022. According to Cepea researchers, despite the rains at the beginning of last week, cassava growers remained interested in marketing, due to the need to capitalize or to release areas, in addition to the expectations that prices will remain low. The nominal forward average of a ton of cassava starch was R$ 1,067.39 (R$ 1.8563 per gram of starch) last week, the lowest level since October/22, down 4.3%, the consecutive sixth. The recent drops in values worry the agents consulted by Cepea regarding possible effects on the area to be occupied with cassava, mainly in a scenario of high production costs.
