Spain: Catalan agricultural producers demand that the Generalitat pay the advance payment of CAP aid on October 16

Young Farmers and Ranchers of Catalonia (JARC) demands that the Generalitat of Catalonia maintain October 16 as the start date for payment of advance payments for direct aid from the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) corresponding to 2023, as anticipated the normative.
The delay in these payments would affect some 40,000 farmers and ranchers in Catalonia and would cause, in many cases, these agricultural professionals to be forced to increase their level of debt even more. "This year we have experienced a situation of extreme drought, and farmers and ranchers have made a great effort to maintain farms and agricultural production despite the water restrictions and economic losses that we have suffered," declared Joan Carles Massot, national president from JARC. According to data from the Department of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda (DACC), nearly 40,000 producers have requested the main aid from the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) corresponding to 2023 and on October 16 they should collect about 210 million euros, which They represent 70% of the advance payment of these aids.
