Chilean cherry exports grow 83% in volume in the period January-March 2021

Of this total in value, 88.4% corresponded to fresh fruit, 10.5% to processed fruit (juices, oils, preserves, frozen, dehydrated), and 1.1% to dried fruits (walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts, among others). Regarding fresh fruit, it reached sales of 899 thousand tons, equivalent to USD 2,571 million FOB during the period January-March 2021. These exports registered an increase in volume of 2%, and in value of 6% compared to the same period of the previous year . Odepa detailed that the main species exported in the period of analysis in this group were cherry, which registered exports of 265,700 tons, equivalent to USD 1,357 million FOB, registering an increase of 83% in volume and 42% in value, in comparison with the same period of the previous year, mostly destined for China (concentrating 93% of the total value of cherry shipments).
