Over the past two weeks, Chinese importers have entered into contracts to purchase large quantities of corn from Ukraine, the Reuters news agency writes, citing data from market operators.
Sources were unable to name the exact volumes that were contracted. However, many European traders estimate them at around half a million to a million tons. According to them, delivery is expected in October – December of this year. Operators from Singapore report that the grain is planned to be delivered on 10-12 Panamax class Cargo vessels. Such bulk carriers can transport at least 60 thousand tons. Thus, even with minimal calculations, this figure fits into the data of their European colleagues. However, they announced the initial delivery date a month later, that is, from November to December.
