Chile: Citrus exports would go down according to Asoex estimates

Low temperatures affected different producing areas; however, the extension of the phenomenon was limited, affecting only some valleys and sectors within the affected orchards. Given what happened, the Citrus Committee called on exporters to implement the work plan established to deal with these situations, which is developed in the "Manual of action against frost", with the aim that producers and exporters act together according to a rigorous work plan, designed to prevent fruit damaged by low temperatures from being exported. The plan contemplates, among other actions, the installation of thermographs in the orchards and the temporary suspension of harvests in the affected orchards until all the fruit is inspected and it is confirmed that it meets the established export tolerances.
