Total fresh citrus imports between June and September this year rose 20 percent year-on-year to $ 682 million, figures from the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service show. By far the biggest increase in the category came from mandarins with imports soaring 55 percent to $ 225 million. The spectacular increase was also driven by Chile and Peru, while South Africa and Uruguay also increased their shipments. Limes and oranges increased 10 percent to $ 134 million and $ 123 million, respectively, while lemons experienced a 3 percent decrease to $ 95 million.
