Corn: technical reevaluation expands irrigated area

The new estimate from Aiba for the 2025/26 corn crop in Western Bahia reveals a significant reconfiguration in the area cultivated with irrigated corn, which has increased from 25 thousand hectares to 75 thousand hectares. The change was based on geoprocessing data and technical validation. According to information from Aiba's 2025/26 Crop Bulletin, the total production forecast for irrigated corn remains at 855 thousand tons, with an estimated productivity of 190 bags per hectare. For the summer corn, the area is 120 thousand hectares, with an expected production of 1.346 million tons, maintaining a productivity of 187 bags per hectare. The marketing of the 2025/26 corn crop is still in its initial stage, with 30% of the volume negotiated so far. The 2024/25 crop is practically finished, with 99% of the production already marketed.
