During the Sunday agroclassic, an occasion when the topic of Sunflower in the Chaco was discussed as a rotation and rental alternative, Bellenzier highlighted that the company is not only looking at the main crop, which is soy, but also at other crops to offer alternatives to producers. “UPL has acquired Semillas Advanta, a multinational company with more than 50 research centers, representation, and subsidiaries worldwide, about five years ago. UPL, by acquiring Advanta, incorporates the genetic part and we are talking about 80 crops,” he noted. In that context, he pointed out that Advanta seeds have been in Paraguay for more than 10 years with sunflower and sorghum genetics. “In terms of sunflower seeds, UPL has taken over the sunflower materials, in this case, we are advancing with two hybrids that we are developing nationwide,” he affirmed.
