Argentina's heavy rains in March and April have delayed the soybean harvest, but improved crop conditions are expected to boost yields. As of April 9, only 2.6% of the area had been harvested, compared to 10.6% the previous year. The average soybean yield is 3.54 t/ha, and experts predict a reduced harvest due to flooding. However, drier weather is expected to speed up the harvest. May soybean futures on the Chicago Board of Trade rose 4.5% last week. In the United States, 8% of the planned area was sown with soybeans as of April 20. EU countries increased soybean imports by 9% to 11.22 million tonnes from July 1 to April 20, with 52% supplied from the USA.
