REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, AGAM - The Director General of Food Crops accompanied the Chair, Leadership, and Members of Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives during Rice Harvest in Agam Regency, West Sumatra Province. Specifically in IV Angkek Subdistrict, Agam Regency, West Sumatra, Saturday (21/6/2025). The rice being harvested was planted by farmers independently using a low-cost planting system, namely without land cultivation (TOT). The land was made into simple plots, then covered with straw, and young seed was planted. Locally, this is called "Cheap Basic Rice Field." Currently, this planting method is being socialized to farmers throughout Agam Regency. The rice variety used by farmers during this harvest is a local variety, Kuriak Kusuik, with a 135-day growth cycle. Previously, sampling had been conducted, with an average productivity of 6.8 tons/ha.
