Embrapa and ADAFSA, from the United Arab Emirates, sign cooperation for bilateral projects

A new phase of opportunities for sharing and developing international agricultural research has just begun. On Tuesday, November 16, Embrapa and the Abu Dhabi Agriculture & Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA), of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), signed the Memorandum of Understanding representing scientific cooperation initiatives between the two institutions, in at least five work themes for the execution of bilateral projects. Areas of common interest involve soilless vegetable cultivation, cassava and fruit production under saline conditions, genetic prospecting for salinity tolerant genotypes, fruit plants and forage genetic improvement for cultivation under salt stress and biological control of Rhynchophorus spp., important group of insect pests of palm trees, such as coconut and date palm, among others.
