The European Commission has reported a significant increase in the EU's total soybean meal imports, reaching 15.77 million tonnes in the 2024/25 season, a 24% rise from the previous year. This increase is primarily due to a sharp increase in imports from Argentina, which has seen an 119% increase year-on-year, and Ukraine, which has seen a 76% increase. Brazil continues to be the largest supplier, but its share has decreased from 60.4% to 50.1%. In contrast, Argentina's share has increased from 20.5% to 36.3%, and Ukraine's share has increased from 3.4% to 4.8%. The EU has also increased its imports of soybeans and rapeseed and decreased its imports of vegetable oils, with imports from Russia decreasing almost fivefold.
