Ministers welcomed the latest update on crops and agricultural income, including the relatively stable level of cereal production, as well as the reopening of Black Sea ports, while emphasizing that the current situation remains difficult both in Ukraine as well as on a global level. Global food security is threatened by Russia's aggression and that is why EU Member States are determined to continue with their help in transporting wheat, maize and other cereals to consumers in Third Countries. Russia's aggression against Ukraine has affected both Ukraine's production and export capacity. In 2021/22, Ukraine had a record harvest in cereal and oilseed crops of 108 million tonnes; however, due to the war, the total area of cereals decreased by 26.6% compared to last year.
