REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia is facing a crisis in the regeneration of plant breeders (breeder) that could threaten national food security in the long term. The number of active breeders is currently very limited, even though the need for superior varieties is continuously increasing to face the challenges of climate change, declining land productivity, and the conversion of agricultural land. In response to this situation, the Indonesian Plant Breeders Association (PERIPI) together with PT East West Seed Indonesia (EWINDO), a producer of hybrid vegetable seeds Cap Panah Merah, and IPB University, will organize the Indonesian Breeder Award 2025 (IBA) with the theme “Breeding is Giving” on November 19, 2025, at the IPB International Convention Center (IICC), Bogor.
