Tridge summary

Even though they have been affected by the suspension of exports to China and some other countries, beef exports continue to register an increase in the volume shipped. In the first eight working days of March, they corresponded to a daily average of 7,688 tons, a volume that represented an increase of almost 20% compared to last February and around 10% compared to March 2022. This advance, however, is being achieved at the expense of the average price, 17.5% lower than that recorded a year ago. However, the value reached so far US$4,869.81/ton remains relatively stable compared to last February (increase of 0.30%). As the increase in volume was insufficient to neutralize the effects of the drop in price, foreign exchange revenue tends to show a negative result in the month. For the time being, based on the daily average, it is just over US$41 million, retreating close to 10% compared to the daily average of March 2022.

On the other hand, the product showed better price evolution, which increased by 17.5% compared to March 2022. Hence an average daily foreign exchange revenue one third higher than that of a year ago. It should be noted that in less than 35% of the working days in March (8 out of a total of 23 working days), the volume of pork meat represents ...
