Analysts note that export prices for Russian wheat have been falling for the third consecutive week under the pressure of global supply. "Winter sowing in most countries of the Northern Hemisphere is almost complete, and crop forecasts are above average," notes the consulting company SovEcon. Conditions for the development of winter wheat in Russia were favorable, the company added. Recent rains have replenished soil moisture reserves, according to the weekly report. At the beginning of last week, IKAR increased its estimate of the 2025 wheat crop in Russia by 0.5 million tons to 88.5 million tons and gave its first estimate for the 2026 crop at 86–91 million tons. The price of Russian wheat with a protein content of 12.5% on a free-on-board (FOB) basis in the second half of January by the end of last week was $227 per ton, down $1 from the previous week, reported Dmitry Rylko, head of the consulting company IKAR.
