The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Claudia Cornejo, highlighted the good export performance of the interior regions of the country, which totaled US $ 14,311 million between January and May 2021, an amount that is 44.4% higher compared to the same period of the previous year. In that period, 18 regions increased their exports: Huancavelica (+ 147%), Apurímac (+ 137%), Puno (+ 112%), Amazonas (+ 107%), Ucayali (+ 98%), Madre de Dios (+ 92%), Loreto (+ 85%), Cusco (+ 69%), Ica (+ 68%), Arequipa (+ 67%), Ayacucho (+ 58%), Tacna (+ 46%), La Libertad (+ 29%), Lambayeque (+ 28%), Piura (+ 25%), Moquegua (+ 10%), Tumbes (+ 5%) and Pasco (+ 2%). Growth by regions In the south, all regions increased their exports, favored mainly by the high prices of minerals. Thus, Apurímac and Arequipa increased their exports thanks to higher shipments of copper, gold, and molybdenum. Puno grew thanks to higher sales of gold, copper, and trout; and Cusco for higher copper sales. Likewise, Tacna and Moquegua increased their sales of copper and molybdenum.
