Farmers in the EU will harvest 20 million tons of rapeseed this year

Harvest conditions are favorable in the two main EU rapeseed countries Norbert Lehmann writes about this in an article published on the Agrarheute.com portal: “The International Grains Council (IGC) in its current estimate predicts a rapeseed crop in the EU of 20 million tons, and will be the largest volume since 2018/19: the volume of the previous year will be exceeded by 500,000 tons. In April, London experts voiced a smaller volume, namely 19.8 million tons of rapeseed. As justification for a more optimistic forecast, IGC cites recent favorable growth conditions in the EU's most important producing regions. In particular, experts increased their production forecast for France by 300,000 tons to 4.6 million tons; this is 100,000 tons more than the previous year. Germany, the EU's second largest rapeseed producer after France, is projected to harvest 4.5 million tonnes, after 4.3 million tonnes the previous year.
