Despite not yet experiencing El Nino, the national feed industry has already struggled with the availability of feed ingredients, which has resulted in price increases. This is a particular concern for corn, a key ingredient in animal feed, as its supply disruption is expected to further drive up prices. The article underscores the need for stable corn availability and suggests the creation of a corn buffer stock to ensure price stability and availability, akin to the rice buffer stock already in place. The challenges posed by El Nino and the impact on the feed industry and poultry sector highlight the importance of devising strategies to mitigate these effects.
