Russia: Five fish processing plants to appear on Sakhalin in 2027

Sakhalin fishermen intend to build five fish processing plants in the region over the next four years, the press service of the island government told reporters. “Together with the deputies [of the regional Duma], we managed to positively resolve [for the Sakhalin fishermen] the issue of implementing the second stage of investment quotas. Thanks to this, five fish processing plants will be built in the region in four years,” Governor of the Sakhalin Region Valery Limarenko is quoted as saying. According to the head of the region, in 2022, local fish merchants managed to sell about 500 tons of fresh fish to the population under the Affordable Fish program.
