A new bill in France permits the use of drones for spraying low-risk plant protection products, biological control agents, and sprays approved for organic farming on farmland with a slope of 20% or more, banana plantations, and ground-managed mother grape plantations. The bill also initiates a three-year trial period to assess the health and environmental implications of drone plant protection operations on other agricultural lands. These trials will be monitored and evaluated by the French National Food Safety Agency (Anses), after which the regulations may become permanent policies. However, it is unlikely that drones will be used in French vineyards for the current plant protection spraying season.
