[Reporter Lee Woo-jung, Korea Farmers and Fishermen Newspaper] With Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province being selected for the harbor and fishing village modernization project promoted by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, a total of 255.5 billion won will be invested by 2030 to realize the vision of a pleasant Gangwon fishing village, marking the start of a full-scale transformation of the fishing villages. The harbor and fishing village modernization project is a core policy of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to counter the disappearance of fishing villages, aiming to modernize the entire fishing village through comprehensive regeneration, including village improvement, living environment enhancement, and tourism infrastructure reinforcement. Major projects include the promotion of new vitality in fishing villages, development of clean national fishing harbors, and general agricultural and fishing village development. Looking at the details of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province's selected projects, there are 12 locations for the promotion of new vitality in fishing villages to strengthen economic and living infrastructure.
