The World Organisation for Animal Health (WHO) has announced the lifting of all restrictions in the containment zone around the foot-and-mouth disease outbreak in Brandenburg, Germany. This means that the region has regained its 'foot-and-mouth disease-free status without vaccination' for the entire federal territory. This quick restoration was made possible by thorough preparation of two comprehensive dossiers by the BMEL, in collaboration with the affected federal states, the Friedrich Loeffler Institute, and an EU expert.
