Gyeongbuk Province in South Korea is taking steps to protect pig farms from African swine fever (ASF) by providing wild boar repellents. The province will implement a three-stage quarantine measure in 12 cities and counties where ASF was detected in wild boars or pigs in farms, excluding Yeongyang. This measure includes setting up traps, installing repellents on fences, and disinfecting farms. The province believes that direct and indirect contact with wild boars is causing infection in farm-raised pigs. The Livestock and Agricultural Products Distribution Bureau has urged pig farms to manage quarantine facilities and disinfect regularly, and to follow basic quarantine rules.
