Gyeonggi Agricultural Technology Institute held a research conference in Pocheon City on September 25 and in Yeoncheon County on September 30 to establish a development strategy for the soybean industry in the northern Gyeonggi region, it was announced on the 30th. This conference, centered around the Soybean Research Association, was attended by producer groups, city and county agricultural technology centers, local agricultural cooperatives, private food companies, and experts, and was conducted as an on-site discussion meeting. With the implementation of the direct payment system for strategic crops to adjust rice production, the cultivation of field soybeans has been encouraged, leading to an increasing trend in the nationwide soybean cultivation area and production volume. While this has a positive effect of increasing the self-sufficiency rate of soybeans, which have a high dependency on imports, it may lead to an oversupply compared to demand.
