IKAR: Oilseed Collection May Exceed 32 Million Tons

The area under oilseed crops this year may set a new record and exceed 20 million hectares, with a gross harvest of 31.3-32.3 million tons in the absence of severe weather negativity. This forecast was announced by Dmitry Rylko, CEO of the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR), at a poultry farming seminar organized by the animal feed producer "De Heus". Last year, oilseed crops occupied 18.9 million hectares, with a harvest of 30 million tons, according to the Ministry of Agriculture. According to Rylko, as cited by the "De Heus" press service, agricultural producers are reorienting towards sunflower, rapeseed, and legumes, aiming to maintain business profitability. Simultaneously, they are reducing areas under wheat and rye. The expert noted that farmers' high interest in oilseed crops and increased production of meal will favorably influence feed availability for poultry and livestock farming.
