The state of winter wheat crops in the US improved markedly last week, according to Grain Online, citing the US Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistical Service (NASS USDA).
The share of crops in poor and very poor condition decreased from 40% to 35%, which is 5% less than a year earlier. The share of crops in good and excellent condition increased from 31% to 34%, which is 5% more than a year earlier.
By May 21, spring wheat sowing was carried out on 85% of the planned area, which is 1% less than on the same date on average over the past five years.
