India increased imports of vegetable oils from Russia by 2.4 times

The volume of supplies of these products in 2022 reached about 558.5 thousand tons In 2022, about 558.5 thousand tons of vegetable oils were shipped from Russia to the Indian market. Compared to 2021, shipments increased by 2.4 times. In monetary terms, the increase over the year is almost tripled to $908.8 million. This is reported in the review of the Agroexport Center of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia with a link to the data of the India Department of Commerce. It is noted that oils in the reporting period were the basis of Russian agricultural exports to this country. India is one of the largest consumers of vegetable oils in the world, but is highly dependent on imports of these products. Over the past three years, more than 60% of the country's domestic needs have been met through external supplies.
