REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono stated that the dairy cow imports are aimed at reducing milk import dependency (substitution) and meeting domestic milk needs. This year, dairy cow imports will reach 250,000 head. "Currently, the milk we consume, where our per capita milk consumption is still low, 80 percent of it is still imported. We want to improve our import gap, in addition to a new market called Free Nutritious Eating (MBG). Therefore, we have to chase between time, between needs and supply," he said when met in Jakarta, Friday (13/6/2025). He said that in importing these cows, they are not using the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN), but instead encouraging entrepreneurs to bring pregnant female cows into the country.
