Indonesia and South Korea: Nothing more than halal food exports

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (Minister Jeong Hwang-geun, hereinafter referred to as the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs) held a meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia on Saturday, November 18, with the Indonesian Halal Certification Agency (BPJPH) and the Korea Muslim Federation (KMF), a private halal certification agency in Korea. It was announced that a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) on halal certification has been signed between the Korea Halal Authority (KHA). In accordance with the ‘Law on Guaranteeing Halal Products’, Indonesia plans to require halal certification for food imported and distributed into the country from October 24 (excluding fresh agricultural products).
