REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) as the Certifying Entity (CE) for Cesium-137 (Cs-137)-free shrimp has signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) for the implementation of the management of Cs-137 testing on shrimp products as a requirement for the issuance of export quality certificates to the United States (US). Head of the Marine and Fisheries Product Quality Control and Supervision Agency (MMAF Quality Agency) Ishartini conveyed that this cooperation further strengthens the quality of certification services for Cs-137-free shrimp products to be exported to the US, for which the MMAF had previously partnered with the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN). “To support the operationalization of the Cs-137-free shrimp certification scheme as an export requirement to the US, we have entrusted the testing of samples for Cs-137 testing to the competent BRIN laboratory that has received FDA approval,” said Ishartini in a press release in ...
