It really causes problems at the border, but in the west of Poland it is world prices that affect the situation on the market. We look at the MATIF exchange or the Chicago stock exchange, which are a guide to grain prices and everyone adjusts to it. Even if we completely close the border with Ukraine, the problem will not be solved if the price on world markets does not increase, the politician believes. As he noted, low grain prices slow down the dynamics of grain exports due to the lack of profitability. - Many buyers bought grain during the harvest, e.g. wheat at a price of about PLN 1,400-1,500 per ton. Now, on the world stock exchanges, the rate is PLN 1,300. In addition, the costs of exporting to the port mean that companies would have to incur a loss at the time of sale. Today, the problem is the slowdown in exports, not Ukrainian grain, Kowalczyk said.
