Russia: Last year's potato harvest record was broken in Buryatia

The farmers of Buryatia broke last year's potato harvest record, harvesting 131 thousand tons. This was reported to reporters by the press service of the republican government.
“90% of the potato fields have been harvested, 131 thousand tons of potatoes have been harvested from them. This figure has already exceeded this year’s plan by 5.7% and broke last year’s record. Last year, at the end of the season, 102.5 thousand tons of potatoes were harvested,” - reported the press service. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic clarified that the average potato yield this year is 161.7 c/ha, in agricultural organizations it is even higher - 209 c/ha. “For comparison: last year the average yield was 140 c/ha, which is the average yield in the climatic conditions of Buryatia. Exceeding the figure of 200 c/ha is considered a very high yield,” the ministry clarified. A record harvest was recorded on the farm of farmer Dmitry Vikhrev in the Ivolginsky district.
