Livestock producers affected by the fires in Portugal have already received support of 490 thousand euros

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food through the Agriculture and Fisheries Financing Institute, I.P. (IFAP) today made the payment of support to livestock producers affected by the fires, to support the purchase of animal feed, which had an application period that ran from 17 to 24 August, with the amounts available in the farmers' account in the next 2 working days.
During this first application period, a total of 906 applications were received at IFAP to support the feeding of 4829 cattle, 31360 sheep and goats and 414 Equidae, totaling a total aid of 490 thousand euros. The administrative procedure adopted made it possible to speed up payments in order to meet the pressing needs of producers. This support, which had an initial allocation of 500 thousand euros, coming from the allocation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, will be reinforced by a new support, in the amount of 500 thousand euros, from the civil protection emergency account, under the terms of the Decree -law no. 112/2008, of July 1st.
