Majority of Peruvian avocados go to the Netherlands, the US, Spain and Chile

Last year, the Netherlands purchased 180,000 tons of fresh avocados from Peru (2020: 140,000 tons), the United States 90,000 tons (2020: 80,000 tons), Spain 88,000 tons (2020: 71,000 tons) and Chile 71,500 tons (2020: 36,000 tons). Other important markets were the United Kingdom with 38,000 tons (2020: 34,000 tons), China with 14,000 tons (2020: 13,000 tons), Russia with 11,000 tons (2020: 13,000 tons) and South Korea, Hong Kong, Canada , Belgium, Bolivia, Italy and Argentina. Season 2022Cillóniz predicts that Peruvian avocado exports will increase by about 20% in 2022 to more than 600,000 tons. The increase in production is driven by new plantings by a few large companies, but also by many small growers on the coast and in the hills. "Many new orchards are being opened all over the country, especially in the coastal valleys and on the hills like in Huaytará and Castrovirreyna.
