REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Director General of Food Crops at the Ministry of Agriculture, Suwandi, said exports of cassava and its derivatives had tripled when international wheat prices soared due to the Ukraine-Russia conflict. Suwandi in his statement in Jakarta, Wednesday (3/8/2022), said that wheat substitute food products such as cassava and sorghum produced in Indonesia could enter the international market and be in demand. "I see this as a blessing. Due to the rising price of wheat, the opportunity for our cassava, our sorghum to go up is good, entering the market is in demand. This is proven, how the economic condition of 2022, exports of cassava and its derivatives in 2022 will increase by almost 300 percent compared to 2020," said Suwandi.
