One is the return of the workforce on the basis of security guarantees; the other is to transfer the seedlings to the Mariri region, where conditions exist for their survival. The Nanduli nursery, the largest in Cabo Delgado province, can produce more than 700,000 seedlings a year. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Cabo Delgado’s last (2021/2022) cashew harvest was, at more than 24,000 tons, the second largest in the country, after Nampula’s 82,000 tons.
