Moroccan marine products exports achieve a record turnover of 2,400 billion

Today, Friday, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests reported that marine products exports registered a total of 778 thousand tons in 2021, with a transaction number of 24.2 billion dirhams (+15 percent), achieving a new record in terms of value.
The ministry explained, in a statement, that this increase in value is due to the improvement in the number of frozen mollusks transactions by 53 percent (40 percent of the total turnover of exports in 2021), including frozen octopus (plus 66 percent) due to the increase in the volume of the shipment transported for the latter. by 9 percent and an increase in its average price by 51 percent, as well as squid (calamar) by (plus 50 percent) due to the increase in the volume of the shipment transported for this product by 15 percent and the increase in its average price for export by 31 percent. Regarding volume, the source added, the exports of marine products decreased slightly by 4 percent, mainly due to a decrease in fish flour (minus 25 fish), canned sardines (minus 18 percent), as well as frozen sardines (minus 14 percent).
