Spain: Olive oil sales total 20 million liters in January, 17% less than last year

Olive oil sales totaled 20 million liters last January, 17.33% less than in the same month of 2022, the National Association of Edible Oil Bottlers and Refiners Industrialists (Anierac) said on Wednesday. Of that amount, 8.53 million liters were extra virgin olive oil; 6.66 million, of "soft"; 2.42 million, virgin; and 2.40 million, of "intense". In the first four months of the 2022-2023 campaign, olive oil shipments to the market decreased by 7.37% compared to the same period of the previous campaign, with a total of 93.81 million liters. Between October 2022 and January 2023, 39.55 million liters of extra virgin olive oil were sold, 6% less than in the accumulated figure of the previous campaign; and 9.68 million liters of virgin, 7.82% more. Sales of olive pomace fell 10.23% in the annual rate in January, with 1.15 million liters, and between October and January they were similar to the first four months of the previous campaign, with 5.67 million.
