Oman's farmers have started the harvest of the 2024-2025 wheat crop, with an anticipated yield of over 7,700 tonnes, a slight increase from the previous season's 7,500 tonnes. The surge in production is attributed to government subsidies and free harvesting machinery, alongside technical assistance and modern irrigation systems. However, Oman still relies heavily on wheat imports to meet its consumption needs, with an expected 200,000 tonnes for 2023/2024. The harvest is being managed by Oman Flour Mills, and the Agriculture and Fisheries Development Fund is facilitating the expansion of cultivation areas, potentially boosting production further.
