Tridge summary

The largest buyers of Dutch onions at the moment during the sales season are Great Britain, Spain, Germany, Israel, France and Belgium. Sales to West Africa have virtually come to a standstill. This is evident from the export figures of GroentenFruit Huis.

Up to and including week 11, the export counter for Dutch onions from the 2022 harvest stands at almost 959,000 tons. That is about 45,000 tons less than last year at the same time in the marketing season. Fewer onions were shipped this year, especially to large importing countries such as Senegal and Ivory Coast. On the other hand, surrounding countries in particular have purchased more Dutch onions.

The market price for onions has been stagnant for the past two weeks. Last week, the North and Central Netherlands Agricultural Fair in Emmeloord, Flevoland, recorded an average of 70 euros per 100 kilos for yellow onions. That is 5 euros less than two weeks ago. The quotation committee still describes the onions as price-holding.
