Paraguay is planning its first cattle exports to countries outside the Americas, including Morocco, Turkey, and East African nations. This decision comes after cattle breeders suffered losses due to low prices and adverse weather conditions. The first shipment, consisting of 2,500 intact male cattle weighing between 200 and 300 kilos, is expected to happen in the first half of the year. This move is particularly significant for Morocco, which has seen a 38% decrease in its national herd since 2016 due to drought and a lack of resources, causing a sharp decline in livestock production. Paraguay is seeking cooperation from Argentina and Uruguay for the transportation and loading of the animals at the port of Montevideo.
