On December 6, 2024, Vietnam witnessed a significant increase in domestic pepper prices, with rates reaching 143,000 - 144,000 VND/kg in several provinces, attributed to doubled prices compared to the previous period and a strong global demand. Despite these challenges, the country's pepper exports from January to November reached 235 thousand tons, generating 1.22 billion USD, and is projected to surpass 20,000 tons in December, bringing the total export revenue for 2024 to nearly 1.4 billion USD. Looking ahead to 2025, the industry aims to meet international food quality and safety standards, increase product value, expand markets, and enhance Vietnam's global market standing, while navigating climate change impacts and other obstacles that may delay the harvest by 1.5 to 2 months.
