The Association of Agricultural Producers' Guilds of Peru (AGAP) has expressed concern over the critical state of the country's agricultural sector. The association highlights water stress in areas like Piura, caused by inefficient management and a lack of new investments, as a key issue. Furthermore, organized crime, illegal mining, and drug trafficking are also impacting agricultural activities. Additionally, logistics costs are increasing, with shipping companies planning to unilaterally raise fees by $1,000 for refrigerated cargo transported to Asian, European, Indian, and Middle Eastern ports from Chile and Peru. AGAP is urging political leaders and institutions to address these challenges and create public policies that support the agricultural sector.
