Peru would position itself as the main fruit exporter in South America by 2025, surpassing Chile, according to a recent report from the General Directorate of Agrarian Policies of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri). This analysis, based on agricultural export data between 2012 and 2022, projects that Peruvian exports will reach a value of US$10.194 million in 2025, surpassing the US$9.979 million estimated for Chile. The report, titled "Evolution of Agricultural Exports from Chile and Peru to 2024", details that Peruvian agricultural exports have grown at an average annual rate of 11%, while Chilean exports have grown at 6.1%. This dynamism has allowed Peruvian exports to almost equal Chilean exports in 2024, with figures of US$9.185 million and US$9.403 million, respectively.
