The National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa) announced Peru's historic triumph at the 2025 World Meat Championship, held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Peruvian meat stood out in the grain-fed narrow steak category, securing first place thanks to the sample presented by José Luis Castro, representative of the Porgoño Corporation, whose farm is located in the city of Trujillo, La Libertad region. The award-winning product belongs to the Peruvian Creole breed, reflecting the genetic diversity and high potential of the national cattle industry, driven by good livestock practices, balanced nutrition, and strict sanitary standards. The competition brought together over 110 samples of high-quality steaks from Ireland, the United Kingdom, Spain, Peru, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina, which were evaluated under a rigorous blind tasting system by 52 international judging tables.
