Peruvian coffee gains more territory in the Swiss market

Imports of agricultural products by Switzerland totaled US$ 2,894 million in the first half of 2022, this being 7% higher compared to the same period in 2021. The main countries that satisfied Swiss demand were Spain, with a 17% share ; Italy, with 11%; and Germany, with 9%. As for Swiss acquisitions from Peru, these also increased, although by 5%, from US$60 million in 2021 to US$63 million in 2022. Of all the Peruvian products imported by Switzerland in the first half of 2022, coffee stood out with a 26% share, adding a total of 3,357 tons for US$16 million. This meant an increase of 31% in volume and 67% in value compared to the previous year. Thanks to this, Peru ranked 11th among the main grain suppliers, with a 3% share. As for the price, it was quoted on average at US$4.78 per kilogram, 30% lower than in 2021, and below the world average (US$5.05).
