Chile saw a 2.5% increase in egg production for consumption in December 2024, reaching 347,655,794 units. The production of white eggs rose by 5.7%, while that of colored eggs fell by 4.8%. The number of laying hens in the country also increased by 2.0% to 14,433,819. The Metropolitan Region led in egg production, followed by the Valparaíso and Ñuble Regions. Distributors were the main marketers of eggs in the second half of 2024, selling 1,032,995,056 units. Some 96.0% of the eggs were produced under conventional or cage systems.
