So far in the 2024-2025 campaign of the project "Recovery of the Carachi Gray and Yellow Biomass," positive results have been recorded, with a significant increase in the production of this native species in Lake Titicaca, according to the Regional Production Directorate (Direpro) of Puno. According to recent monitoring, artisanal fishermen and the project's technical team verified that the planting of 3 million fry in the past campaign has produced carachis with sizes exceeding 8 centimeters. "One year after the intervention, we can affirm that the results are positive," said the director of Direpro, José Antonio Huayta. As a reminder, the project includes an investment of S/11,727,183 for the planting of 9.5 million fry over three years, with the goal of recovering this emblematic species, which is in danger of extinction.
